Awards for two Swiss coproductions at “Message to Man” Festival in St. Petersburg
The short animation film “Miramare” by Michaela Müller, a Swiss-Croatian coproduction, was honoured with the Centaur Prize for Best Debut Film at the 20th “Message to Man” International Film Festival in St. Petersburg (July 15-22, 2010). The prize is endowed with 2,000 dollars. Furthermore, the film “David Wants To Fly” by German director David Sieveking (coproduction: Dschoint Ventschr, Zurich) was honoured with the Special Prize for Best Film by the three-member jury of international film critics.
A total of four Swiss film productions were screened in the international competition. The award is yet another in the remarkable career of the animation film "Miramare", which was Müller's graduation film from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. Since its world premiere in Cannes, the film has already garnered six awards.
The "Message to Man" Festival in St. Petersburg is one of the five festivals accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers Association (FIAPF) in the category of festivals focusing on documentary and short film productions. The festival jury was comprised of five members from the film industry.
