“Summer Games,” “Sennentuntschi” and “Corpo celeste” in Minnesota (USA)
The Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival (April 12 - Mai 3, 2012), which attracts its festival audience with the theme of “Love, Film,” will screen the fiction film “Summer Games” in competition. The film’s three-time “Quartz” award-winning director Rolando Colla will attend the festival in Minnesota. Furthermore, the Alpine thriller “Sennentuntschi” by Michael Steiner will be screened in the Late Night programme. The Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival has showcased Swiss filmmaking for years.
The invitation to this festival in the Upper Midwest of the USA is yet another step in the striking international career of “Summer Games” (production: Peacock Film, Zurich). Since celebrating its premiere at the Mostra Internazionale d'Arte Cinematografica in Venice, the film has been screened at the international festivals in Toronto, Sao Paulo, Tallinn, Busan, Hof, Saarbrücken and Palm Springs, among others, and runs in cinemas in Germany, Austria, France and Spain.
“Sennentuntschi - Curse Of The Alps” is also making an interesting international journey, from Calcutta to Leeds and the USA. It was recently screened at the Austin Fantastic Fest, the largest festival for this film genre in North America, as well as in San Francisco and at further festivals and universities in Los Angeles, Denver and San Diego.
The festival in Minneapolis St. Paul will also screen Alice Rohrwacher’s fiction film “Corpo celeste” (coproduction: Amka Films) in the World Cinema programme. Since its premiere in Cannes, the film has also experienced a notable festival presence worldwide, garnering awards in Gorizia and Göteborg. “Corpo celeste” has been screened in cinemas in German-speaking Switzerland since the beginning of April.
