“Abrir puertas y ventanas,” the feature film debut by Argentine-Swiss director Milagros Mumenthaler, was honoured with the award for Best Iberian-American Film at the 27th Guadalajara International Film Festival (March 2-10, 2012) as well as the SIGNIS Award at the 8th Pantalla Pinamar Argentine – European Film Encounter (March 3-10, 2012). The two awards mark the 14th and 15th award for “Abrir puertas y ventanas,” which is also nominated for the Swiss Film Prize “Quartz 2012” in the category of Best Fiction Film, presented at the upcoming award ceremony in the KKL Luzern on March 17.

The film is a Swiss coproduction honoured with two Golden Leopards at the Locarno International Film Festival last year, before receiving the most prestigious awards at the film festival in Mar del Plata in November. The fiction film “Los pasos dobles” by Catalan director Isaki Lacuesta, also a Swiss coproduction (Bord Cadre films, Geneva) in competition, won the Special Jury Award in Guadalajara.

Fabio Friedli’s short film “Bon voyage,” produced at the Lucerne School of Art and Design (HSLU), was also honoured with an award at an Iberian Festival the same weekend: the Audience Award at the 14th FEC European Short Film Festival, held successively in the Catalan cities of Cambrils and Reus (March 1-10, 2012).
