Mona Petri – Shooting Star 2003
European acting talent in the limelight at the Berlinale
Shooting Stars is just one of the numerous events initiated by European Film Promotion (EFP), aiming to render European film productions visible. SWISS FILMS is a member of this association of film promotion agencies. Since 1998 EFP has presented during the International Film Festival in Berlin Europe’s new generation of acting talent: the “Shooting Stars”. The event has evolved into a label and become a talent exchange for young actors. Switzerland has participated since 1999. Since 2008 a jury has selected the ten best candidates.
Mona Petri
Biography
Geboren 1976 in Zürich, Schweiz. Nach ihrer Ausbildung an der Berner Hochschule für Musik und Theater (1997-2001) wird Mona Petri am Landestheater Tübingen engagiert. Sie wechselt ans Badische Staatstheater Karlsruhe (2002-2006), wo sie 2003 als Eve in «Das Mass der Dinge» mit dem Förderpreis der Armin-Ziegler-Stiftung geehrt wird. Daneben steht sie mit ihrer Grossmutter Anne-Marie Blanc in Marguerite Duras' Zweifrauenstück «Savannah Bay» (Insz.: Nils Torpus, 2004) auf der Bühne. Seit 2007 ist sie Ensemblemitglied im Theater Marie in Aarau. Parallel zur Bühnenpräsenz spielt sie ihre erste grosse Filmrolle in «Big Deal». Für ihre zweite Hauptrolle im Film «Füür oder Flamme» wird sie mit dem Schweizer Filmpreis 2003 als Beste Darstellerin ausgezeichnet und Schweizer Shooting Star an der Berlinale 2003. Im Kammerspiel «Hello Goodbye» verkörpert Petri die weibliche Hauptfigur und hat das Drehbuch zusammen mit Stefan Jäger und ihrem Filmpartner Stefan Gubser entwickelt. (Update 11/2007)
