Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival

"All About Me? Japanese and Swiss Personal Documentaries", a Japanese-Swiss film program comprised of films by, among others, Robert Frank, Peter Liechti, Peter Mettler, Martina Jacoma and Lionel Baier. The program is scheduled to run from 7 to 13 October at the Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival (YIDFF).

Peter Liechti, Peter Mettler, Yaël Parish and Ivo Zen will be present in Yamagata and Kyoto to present their films personally. The exchange between Swiss and Japanese filmmakers will be accompanied by public discussions.

The film program "All About Me?" will also be making a stop in Kyoto at the University of Art & Design on 16 and 17 October 2005. This depiction of first person narration in the cinema is curated by Asako Fujioka, responsible for the "Asian Currents" section of the YIDFF program, and Jean Perret, festival director of the international film festival Visions du Réel in Nyon. Films from Switzerland will be on tour in Japan starting October 2005: Fiction films in Osaka, documentary films in Yamagata, classics in Tokyo and animation films in Hiroshima. The events are a part of the culture program «Swiss Contemporary Arts in Japan» launched by Pro Helvetia and SWISS FILMS.
