From 1989 to 2000, Jacqueline Veuve – together with cameraman Milivoy Ivkovic – followed the eventful life of a young artist and painter living with his family in New York: her son Laurent Veuve. Added to this 11-year filmed pursuit are extracts from a short film of Laurent at the age of 7 in 1968, as well as a sequence shot in New York by Pascal Chevalley in 1986 for the Télévision Suisse Romande. Rapid successes followed by “setbacks” put his existence into question and lead the artist to re-direct his activity, which is currently being pursued in Switzerland. Along the way, Laurent Veuve progressively becomes co-director of the film, finally turning the camera on the filmmaker Jacqueline Veuve. This is a “painting” of the social environment of the artist and of the persons who live with his works.
