In the intimate circle of mathematics professor Simon Kannell a mysterious series of deaths occur, with women the victims in each case. The professor, whose special field is “chaos theory”, becomes the prime suspect. He is arrested and interrogated. Various items of circumstantial evidence point in his direction, but there is no hard evidence. The two chief inspectors in charge, von Burg and Gertsch, desperately try to solve the riddle of the sudden deaths. With but minutes to spare they manage to prevent yet another murder in this pyschothriller, in which the viewer is always one step ahead of the two sleuths.
