St. Gotthard: a mountain pass, stronghold, and fountainhead, the shortest route connecting north to south in the heart of Europe, a sacred mountain as well as symbol of our progress and independence. But it also signifies pandemonium on the road and environmental problems. Is the devil that humans once beseeched to construct a bridge over the gorge now seeking revenge? The film takes us on an extraordinary journey over the legendary pass and through the history of the sacred mountain, in which the President of the Federal Council, Moritz Leuenberger, has also taken part.
