In his early 20s, Dario is released from jail after a six year sentence for the assault and manslaughter of a young girl. With no job, no friends and no home, his prospects are bleak. Were it not for his kind godfather Roger, who employs him as a dish washer at his restaurant, Dario would be out on the streets. Roger covers up Dario's past because of his companion Borka's young daughter. Meanwhile, the victim's family is intent on getting revenge and, with the help of an ambitious TV journalist, are intent on
exposing Dario's identity to the public. When Borka allows young Tanja to go to Zurich's annual Street Parade with Dario, all hell breaks loose when Tanja gets lost and Dario's secret is revealed on television.
