When Fredi Cortesi took over as coach of the Biel ice hockey team, the team's fortunes changed for the better. Then Cortesi was found dead in the changing rooms of the local stadium. Cocaine was discovered in his locker. Chief Inspector von Burg and his ice hockey mad colleague Gertsch take charge of the investigation. Does Cortesi's death have something to do with his earlier involvement in the world of drugs? Or with his team's success? What if anything has Alberta, his girlfriend of many years, to do with his death? And the hot-tempered Reto, a player on the team who has had an affair with Alberta? Philipp von Burg is fairly certain that it is the latter, a crime of passion.
