Actually, they were not planning on staying long. Nevertheless, they all still live in the canton of Graubünden today: the first generation of immigrants from all of Italy. Since the end of the Second World War, they have immigrated to Switzerland for the most varied of reasons. They come from different social milieus, and work as shoemakers, porters, factory workers, teachers, cooks, hairdressers, housekeepers, missionaries or CEOs. Their stories are similar, and yet entirely different.
