Herbert is a well-established businessman, Karlmann a distinguished son of an upper-class family and Albert a robust sailor. Together they overcame all of society's barriers to indulge in their passion for tattooing. The impression they give at first glance is one of three solid, middle-class elderly gentlemen - about ninety years old. As soon as they take off their shirts, however, parchment-like images on their skin are revealed, telling the tales of their lives in pictures.
