Siblings Ann-Kathrin (7), Henrik (5), Erik (4) live on a holm in the Watten sea of north Germany. Several times a year the sea floods the holm and all that is left are its five houses and their little hills jutting out over sea level. Then the children have the day off school. The film accompanies the siblings on their daily expeditions and looks at their views on life. Poetic black and white imagery is accompanied by piano pieces composed by Mozart as a child.
