Ever since senior citizens have only had to pay 1 Euro for a cinema ticket on Tuesdays in Madrid, queues are already forming in the afternoon. Scores of people attempt to get hold of a ticket. Waiting in the long queue is not boring, however, for there is a lot to see and much to tell. The best wardrobes and new hairstyles are on display here, politics are boisterously discussed, admission tickets are wrangled, Spain’s past is pondered and films are disputed, all in great anticipation of the film. The fate of Spain’s post-war generation manifests itself here, where the elderly discover their love of cinema – with a glint in their eyes.
