More than 300 letters sent from Africa surface unexpectedly, and a story comes back to life from out of oblivion. The author decides to pursue the long-since deceased letter writer: his father, who had left his son in the lurch in the 1950s. From Zambia to Namibia, he follows the course of the letters, thereby projecting his own narrative and passing it on to his adoptive daughter, whose roots go back to Africa.
