Immigrants from the Indian subcontinent have considerably changed the “atmosphere” of London over the past 30-odd years. This film paints a colourful portrait of London’s “Asian scene”, as seen through the eyes of a choreographer (Shobana Jeyasingh), a writer (Firdaus Kanga), a musician and producer (Aki Nawaz), and a Bhangra musician (Channi Singh), the theatrical producer Jatinder Verma, and many others. In the words of Firdaus Kanga: “Asians like to talk loudly, because what they say is for everyone’s ears, and they have that sense of the social, the community, and much less the sense of the individual. Asians find the white people’s idea of whispering things to each other terribly insulting, and the idea of privacy intolerable.”
