Megacities are fascinating and monstrous at the same time. The 12 chapters of this illustrated tale introduce us to Shankar the bioscope man, Modesto the chicken feet salesman, Babu Khan the colour strainer, Nestor the waste collector, Oleg, Borja, Kolya and Mischa the street children, Cassandra the actress, Larissa the crane driver and Toni the hustler. They are all people whose daily lives are conducted with a combination of resourcefulness, humour and dignity, but who have the same illusion that a better life awaits them.
