Brain Concert
Documentary, 90 min.
by Bruno Moll
Switzerland, October 1998
Human consciousness is one of the riddles with which scientific research is still wrestling. In their efforts to get to the bottom of one of the last great challenges and to penetrate the secrets of the self, and of the human “soul”, the researchers dig ever deeper into that neural jungle we call the brain. This film attempts to provide an insight into this world of “consciousness research” by concentrating on a familiar phenomenon, music and our appreciation of it. What explains our perception of music? How can acoustic waves be made to produce a given emotional state in the hearer?
