A man returns after decades to the scene of a disturbing, mysterious and very brief encounter which occured during the moral ambiguity of wartime and has haunted him since. Entrusted with a secret he doesn't understand, after years of wondering he is determined to discover what is hidden under the floorboards in an abandoned old house by the train yard. Buster Keaton meets Tarkovsky in this site-specific duet – or duel – between a man and a condemned house during their last days.
