The film tells the story of the boatmen on the Aare who transported wine on rafts from the vineyards of Lake Neuenburg and Lake Biel to Solothurn. They frequently arrived here drunk because they succumbed to the temptation of tapping a wine cask during their long journey on the river. But that was a long time ago. Today, there are no drunken raftsmen anymore. A newly built hotel obstructs the view of the Aare. Now that is a present!
