Lips whisper on the screen, intuitively protected by the obscure light of the confessional. They impart intimate insight into the past: lamenting and yearning in equal measure for reconciliation with one’s own father, who had never paid attention and was a member of a minority group that had to contend with prejudices. Although this minority is never mentioned by name, an intense feeling of otherness pervades the film – a singular interfusion of acting and authenticity, prose, poetry and music with elements of rap.
