Switzerland, January 2009
At the end of March in 1999, Switzerland invited Jiang Zemin, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, to Bern to discuss the strengthening of economic ties to China. A protest demonstration by Tibetans living in exile on the day of his arrival at the Federal Houses of Parliament resulted in an uproar. People who had personally witnessed this incident form a direct emotional link to this topic in the film.
