Photographer Andrea Vogel is a man who likes to test his own boundaries. He sets off from Timbuktu with a salt caravan to cross the Sahara desert: 3000 kilometers on foot. For years his wife, Beatrice, has planned it and organised it with him. Left behind in Switzerland, she fears for his life because, after 800 kilometers, Andrea’s guides refuse to accompany him any further. He travels alone through the burning heat of Chech Erg and reaches his goal of Marrakech after three months. Andrea’s expeditions are a strain on his marriage. Despite all this, for over 14 years Andrea and Beatrice have made an energetic couple that goes its own way.
