The sequences of movement and the plots in Roman Signer’s action sculptures can be viewed as sculptures of space and time. The directions of movement in these documents proceed in a markedly contrasting fashion. Hence, the film is called: “Vertical/Horizontal”. This contrast is underscored by the settings: winter/ice/water/summer/clouds/air. A “commentary” to the story is provided with the abstract signs of sign language and, in particular, with music by Möslang/Guhl.
Nelle loro successioni di movimenti ed eventi, le azioni di Roman Signer sono concepite come sculture spazio-temporali. In conformità con le opposte direzioni prese in queste testimonianze, il film si chiama semplicemente Senkrecht/Waagrecht (Verticale/Orizzontale). Tale tendenza oppositiva è sottolineata dagli esterni: inverno/ghiaccio/acqua/estate/nuvole/aria. Il "commento"alla storia è fornito dai segni astratti del linguaggio dei segni utilizzato dai non udenti e soprattutto dalla musica di Möslang/Guhl.
