Brothers and Others – The Impact of 9/11 on Muslims and Arabs in America
Documentary, 53 min.
by Nicolas Rossier
United States, November 2002
A documentary that focuses on the psychological and practical impacts of september 11 on Muslims, Arabs and South Asians in America and the prejudice that has risen against them since then. It questions the long-term effects the September 11th attacks and the Patriot Act will have in the Muslim community and emphasizes three different current issues: detentions without due process, employment discriminations and economical boycotts. The film also explores the immigration restrictions placed on people from the Muslim countries and the vast roll back of civil rights that can apply indefinitely to any religious, ethic or political group. In interviews with immigrants, government representatives and a select group of legal and historical experts including Ghazi Khankan, Noam Chomsky and James Zogby, this film explores how America’s fear of terrorism has negatively impacted a substantial portion of the American population.
