Federal Councillor Alain Berset presented Alexander J. All of the winners were voted for by the members of the Swiss Film Academy. The Swiss Film Award is produced by the Federal Office of Culture, together with its partners, SRG SSR and the Association Quartz Genève Zürich, and organised in collaboration with Swiss Films, the Swiss Film Academy and the Solothurn Film Festival.

Special Award of the Academy
The 2014 Special Award of the Academy worth CHF 5,000 went to costume designer Françoise Nicolet for her exceptional work on the feature films “Longwave (Les grandes ondes (à l'ouest)” and “Left Foot Right Foot”. Her designs, which reflect her keen eye for detail, are not created simply for effect, but rather they serve to further the film narrative and imbue the characters with authenticity.

Honorary Award
Author and producer, Alexander J. Seiler, was the recipient of the 2014 Honorary Award. He accepted his “Quartz” trophy from Federal Councillor Alain Berset, who paid tribute to Mr Seiler’s important contribution to filmmaking as well as his outstanding achievements as a writer and journalist.

Award ceremony and Nominees Week
The ceremony was hosted by Maria Victoria Haas and streamed live by media partners SRG SSR.
As a prelude to the award ceremony and part of Nominees Week, a series of side-events were held in the cities of Geneva and Zurich. All nominated films were screened at the Cinémas du Grütli in Geneva and at the Filmpodium in Zurich, allowing the public to discover the strength and diversity of Swiss film-making today. The side programme was made possible by the canton and the city of Geneva and the city of Zurich, who collectively make up the Association Quartz Genève Zürich.

The next Swiss Film Award will be held on Friday, 13 March 2015, in Geneva.
