The Swiss parliament reinforce the culture and the Swiss cinema industry

It is a rejoicing day for the Swiss culture. After the State council (March 2015), it is now the National council’s turn to support the cultural promotion concepts of the Federal council for the period 2016-2020. For the implementation of his cultural policy, the Federal council requires CHF 1.12 billion for the period 2016-2020, which means, in average, 3.4 percent more than for the past period (2012-2015). The support concerns all the sectors being covered by the Federal Office for Culture, the Pro Helvetia Foundation and the Swiss National Museum.

Thanks to the support program meant for the Swiss cinema industry, it is thus the seventh art in Switzerland that is being aimed at. This new support instrument intends to encourage the persons involved in Swiss coproductions that they should ensure that their films are being produced to the largest possible extend in Switzerland and that their respective added value can be generated at a higher level within our country.
