The Encounters Short Film & Animation Festival in Bristol (September 15–20, 2015) honours Swiss director Ursula Meier with a retrospective comprised of three of her early short films as well as her feature film “Sister”. Meier’s short film “Tišina Mujo” is among the 10 Swiss films screened in the International Competition.

The Ursula Meier Retrospective, compiled in collaboration with SWISS FILMS, focuses on three of her early short films – “Le songe d'Isaac” (1994), “Des heures sans sommeil” (1998) and “Tous à table” (2001). Her feature film “Sister”, which was honoured with a Silver Bear at the Berlinale in 2012 and went on to make an impressive international festival career, will be screened in the Shorts2Features programme. Ursula Meier will present her films personally in Bristol.

In addition, the filmmaker has been invited to a special event with the Bristol-based musician and composer John Parish, who composed the score for “Sister” and Meier’s latest short film “Kacey Mottet Klein, Birth of an Actor”. The two will meet on September 18 to share their thoughts on the importance of music and sound in the filmmaking process and provide insight into their creative collaboration.
