Eight Swiss film productions will be screened at the 30th Festival International du Film Francophone FIFF in Namur (October 2-9, 2015). Two of these films will be screened in the Official Competition: “Horizontes” by Eileen Hofer and “La vanité” by Lionel Baier. In addition, Carmen Jaquier’s “La rivière sous la langue” will be screened in the International Short Film Competition and Guillaume Senez’s “Keeper” in the Emerging Directors Competition.

The documentary film “Horizontes” (production: Intermezzo Film, Geneva) celebrated its premiere at Visions du Réel in Nyon, where it received a Special Mention from the Swiss Cinema Jury and has since been screened at festivals in Karlovy Vary, Locarno, Montreal, among others. The Swiss-French coproduction “La vanité” by Bande à part Films Lausanne, featuring Patrick Lapp and Carmen Maura in the leading roles, celebrated its world premiere in the ACID section in Cannes. Both films will be screened in the Official Competition and are in the running for Bayard d’Or, the festival’s main award. The short film “La rivière sous la langue” (production: Garidi Films, Geneva) competed in the Pardi di domani in Locarno and will be screened in the International Short Film Competition in Namur. Thanks to support from SWISS FILMS, the directors Eileen Hofer, Lionel Baier and Carmen Jaquier will travel to Namur to present their films personally to the festival audience.

Kacey Mottet Klein presents “Keeper”
Contending in the Emerging Directors Competition is the widely acclaimed debut “Keeper” by Belgian director Guillaume Senez, starring acting talent Kacey Mottet Klein from Lausanne, in the leading role. The Belgian-Swiss-French coproduction premiered in the Cineasti del presente competition in Locarno and won the Europa Cinemas Label Award. In September it was screened at the TIFF in Toronto. Kacey Mottet Klein will attend the presentation together with the film’s director and other actors on October 6.

Screened in the Regards du présent section will be the documentary film “Broken Land” by Stéphanie Barbey and Luc Peter (production: Intermezzo Films), which has already received a great deal of attention at festivals worldwide, as well as the short film “On avait dit qu'on irait jusqu'en haut” by Tizian Büchi (Box Productions, Renens).

Screened in the FIFF Campus programme are the animation films “Le conte des sables d'or” by Samuel and Frédéric Guillaume, realised together with 143 students from a remedial school, as well as the French-Swiss-Belgian coproduction “Jean-Michel le caribou des bois” by Mathieu Auvray (coproduction: Nadasdy Film, Geneva).
