“La vanité” by Lionel Baier has been nominated for the Prix Lumières in the category “Film Francophone”.

The Académie des Lumières comprises 200 press representatives in France and is thus the French equivalent to the Golden Globes. “La vanité” is one of a total of six films nominated in this category, thereby competing with such films as “Le tout nouveau testament” by Jaco Van Dormael, “À peine j’ouvre les yeux” by Leyla Bouzid or “Much Loved” by Nabil Ayouch, among others.

The Swiss-French coproduction celebrated its premiere in Cannes (ACID) last year and was screened at the festivals in Locarno and Namur, among others. “La vanité” has already run in cinemas in Switzerland and France and will be released in Canada this spring. The film was produced by Bande à part Films in Lausanne.

The Prix Lumières awards ceremony will take place in Paris on February 8.
