Two Césars for “Ma vie de Courgette”

“Ma vie de Courgette” (“My Life As a Zucchini”) by Claude Barras was honoured with the César for Best Animated Feature and for Best Book Adaption at the 42nd César Award Ceremony.

Film director Claude Barras and producers Pauline Gygax and Max Karli (Rita Productions) as well as producer Michel Merkt (KNM) received the most important French film award for Best Animated Feature in Paris. The French screenwriter Céline Sciamma (“Girlhood”, “Quand on a 17 ans”) received the award for Best Adaption. Her screenplay was based on the novel “Autobiographie d’une courgette” by Gilles Paris.

Ma vie de Courgette” was produced by Rita Productions in Geneva (Max Karli, Pauline Gygax) in coproduction with Blue Spirit Productions, Paris; Gébéka Films, Lyon and KNM, Monte Carlo (Michel Merkt). World Sales were acquired by Indie Sales in Paris. The film also received the European Film Award for Best Animated Feature, together with numerous awards at festivals.

More than 750,000 viewers have seen “Ma vie de Courgette” in cinemas in France since it was released in October 2016, and already over 100,000 viewers in French-speaking Switzerland. Since mid-February the stop-motion animation has been shown under the German title of “Mein Leben als Zucchini” in Germany, Austria and German-speaking Switzerland. The film has started today in the US-cinemas as well. “Ma vie de Courgette” is also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
