FACING MECCA wins the Student Academy Award 2017

As announced today by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, FACING MECCA by Jan-Eric Mack (produced by Joel Jent, Dschoint Ventschr; ZHdK; SRF) wins the Student Academy Award in the category «Narrative (International Film Schools)».

As announced today by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, FACING MECCA by Jan-Eric Mack (produced by Joel Jent, Dschoint Ventschr; ZHdK; SRF) wins the Student Academy Award in the category «Narrative (International Film Schools)».

The director will attend the award ceremony on October 12 in the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. The medal placements – gold, silver and bronze – will be announced at the ceremony. FACING MECCA has already won two awards at the Palm Springs International ShortFest in June and is also eligible for an Academy Award nomination in the Live Action Short Film category.

To date, a total of five Swiss short films are contenders for an Academy Award nomination in the categories Animated Short Film, Live Action Short Film, and Documentary Short Subject: WHATEVER THE WEATHER by Remo Scherrer, IN A NUTSHELL by Fabio Friedli, FACING MECCA by Jan-Eric Mack, EN LA BOCA by Matteo Gariglio, as well as MORIOM by Francesca Scalisi and Mark Olexa.
