Thirty years after the military coup in Chile, three theatre companies, whose Chilean directors have lived in exile for many years, come together to organize a tour that deals with various themes of the country: from the Mapuche Indians to the neighbourhoods on the outskirts of Santiago. Miguel Ángel Cinefuegos is one of these directors: he is also an actor and manager of the Locarno Paravento Theatre. He left the country together with his family in 1974 and since then has lived and worked in Switzerland. Although this is not the first time that he has returned to Chile, this trip has a strong emoitional and symbolic value: it is a voyage into the personal and collective memory that comes alive thanks to the meetings that he has with various people who played important roles in the history of Chile during the last few decades.
His so, who is a film-maker, is a witness of thi voyage. By observing what his father gradually experiences, he is able to understand for himself what Chilean history has left him as a heritage.
A 30 anni dal colpo di stato in Cile, tre compagnie teatrali, i cui registi cileni hanno vissuto lunghi anni di esilio, si ritrovano per compiere una tournée che toccherà diverse realtà del paese. Tra questi registi c'è Miguel Angel Cienfuegos, attore e direttore del Teatro Paravento di Locarno. Egli è uscito dal paese assieme alla famiglia nel 1974 e da allora vive e lavora in Svizzera. Benché non sia il suo primo ritorno in Cile, questa occasione assume un forte valore simbolico ed emotivo: un viaggio nella memoria personale e collettiva che si fa viva tramite gli incontri che avrà con diversi protagonisti della storia del Cile degli ultimi decenni. Testimone di questo viaggio è il figlio cineasta. Osservando ciò che man mano vive il padre, egli potrà a sua volta capire che cosa gli ha lasciato in eredità la storia del Cile.
