2004 Swiss Film Prize Award

At the 2004 Swiss Film Prize Awards, “Mein Name ist Bach” by Dominique de Rivaz was selected in the category of “Best Feature Film” and awarded the monetary prize of sixty thousand Swiss francs. For “Best Documentary Film“, the award and prize of sixty thousand Swiss francs went to “Mais im Bundeshuus – Le Génie Helvétique” by Jean-Stéphane Bron. The award for “Best Short Film“ was presented to “L‘Escalier” by Frédéric Mermoud with a prize of thirty thousand Swiss francs. Finally, the prize for “Best Actress” and “Best Supporting Actor”, each awarded fifteen thousand Swiss francs, were given to Bettina Stucky for her performance in “Meier Marilyn” and Gilles Tschudi for his performance in “Mein Name ist Bach”. A newly created prize by the jury was awarded to Corinna Glaus for her casting of the film “Ready, Steady, Charlie!”.
On the occasion of the 38th Solothurn Film Festival, the Swiss Film Prize was awarded by Swiss Federal Councillor Pascal Couchepin, actor Jean-Luc Bideau, new director of SF DRS television Ingrid Deltenre, jury president Stephan Eicher as well as Florence Heiniger and Polo Hofer, who moderated the festivities. Presented for the seventh time since its inception, the Swiss Film Prize is a collective undertaking of the Federal Office of Cultural Affairs, the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation (SRG SSR idée suisse), the Locarno International Film Festival, the Nyon Documentary Film Festival “Visions du reel”, the Solothurn Film Festival, and Swiss Films.

The jury for the 2004 Swiss Film Prize included musician Stephan Eicher, actress and winner of the 2002 Swiss Film Prize, Sabine Timoteo, French cinematographer and director Nurith Aviv, television journalist and screenwriter Laurence Mermoud, producer and owner of the T&C Film company, Marcel Hoehn, director Fulvio Bernasconi and publicist and former head of “Diagonale” Graz, Constantin Wulff. Along with the monetary prize, the directors of the winning films were presented a trophy in the form of a professional pocket size “Viewfinder” which can be used in their filmmaking activities.
