Audience Award for “Crisis in Havana” at Schwerin International Festival of Film and the Arts

German audiences have become enamored by Sabine Boss’ political comedy “Crisis in Havana”: the film - a Swiss movie theatre success with 320,000 tickets sold - was given the audience award of 2,500 Euros at the 13th Schwerin International Festival of Film and the Arts in Schwerin, Germany, which ended on May 11, 2003.
“Crisis in Havana” with Viktor Giacobbo in the leading role, began its triumphant tour through Swiss German movie theatres in March of 2002. In Germany, the film, which was produced by Vega Film Zurich, had its premiere at the “Max Ophuels-Prize” in Saarbruecken in January of 2003. In the German Baltic Sea resort Schwerin, Sabine Boss personally introduced the film to the festival audience that responded with excitement and appreciation: after two screenings, 96% of the viewers gave the film their highest mark and turned “Crisis in Havana” into the darling of the festival goers.
