04.09.2008

The documentary film "Grozny Dreaming" by Swiss filmmakers Mario Casella and Fulvio Mariani was honoured with the “Lessinia Gold 2008” at the 14th Film Festival della Lessinia in Verona, Italy, on August 30, 2008. The festival is dedicated to films which deal with mountain life, history and traditions. Swiss film director Fredi M. Murer was the guest of honour at this year’s festival.
”Grozny Dreaming”, produced by Iceberg-film and Peacock Film, Zurich in co-production with TSI (Italian Swiss Broadcasting Service), was awarded the prize with the following statement: “A moving howl of hope in the ever-more dramatic situation of the new national entities that have emerged around the Caucasus, told in an exciting way through the account of a small group of musicians from fighting communities.” The film was shot about one year ago in South Ossetia, Abkhazia, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. It accompanies the multiethnic “Caucasian Chamber Orchestra”, based in Tbilisi, as it tours throughout the Caucasus.

”Grozny Dreaming” will be released in Swiss cinemas in October (distributor: Frenetic Films).
