Awards for Swiss films in Valencia and Lisbon

Igaal Niddam’s fiction film “Brothers” – produced by Troubadour Films in Geneva together with the French Swiss Broadcasting Service (TSR) – was awarded the Public Prize, endowed with 10,000 euros, at the 30th Mostra de Valencia Cinema del Mediterrani (October 14-22, 2009). And the documentary film “Hasta La Victoria” by Chris Guidotti and Matteo Besomi, produced by the Italian Swiss Broadcasting (TSI), was honoured with the IPJ Universities Award for Best Documentary Film, endowed with 1,500 euros, at the 7th Doc Lisboa Film Festival (October 15-25).
An Honourable Mention went to the 30-minute film “Entrevista com Almiro Vilar da Costa” by Sérgio Da Costa at the documentary film festival in the capital of Portugal. Film director Sérgio Da Costa was born in Portugal and studied at the Geneva University of Art and Design (HEAD).



“Brothers” celebrated its premiere in 2008 at Festival Cinéma Tous Ecrans in Geneva, where it won the Audience Prize. At the beginning of 2009 it was honoured with two awards at the International Festival of Audiovisual Programmes (FIPA) in Biarritz. The film, which is currently in the running for a nomination of the European Film Awards, will be released in cinemas in the French-speaking region of Switzerland in February 2010 (distribution: Moa Distribution).
