Abduction, torture, murders: since 1994, the businesswoman Zainap Gashaeva – called “Coca”- the dove by her parents and friends - has been documenting what have become daily events in her country. She has been fighting for an international tribunal and together with other women, has been hiding hundreds of videotapes of what has been declared an “anti-terrorist operation” by President Putin, but has taken on features of genocide. Up to thirty percent of the Chechen population may have been killed while the world is looking away; be it out of ignorance, helplessness or opportunism. At its presentation in Berlin, the film evoked a great audience response.

Eric Bergkraut and Zainap Gashaeva will be present at the festival in New York City. Further, the Swiss General Consulate in New York and the UNO Mission are planning additional showings of “Coca.”
