17.08.2006

In the competition section of the 12th Sarajevo Film Festival, taking place in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina from August 18-16, 2006, «Das Fraulein/The Waitress» by Andrea Staka (Production: Dschoint Ventschr, Zurich) will be competing for the «Heart of Sarajevo Award», along with eight additional films. The Swiss hit movie «Mein Name ist Eugen» (My name is Eugene) by Michael Steiner (Production: Kontraproduktion and C-Films, Zurich), will be shown out of competition in the «Children’s Programme». In the «New Current Shorts» section, the short film «Nouvel ordre» by Gregory Bindschedler, Jean-Daniel Schneider, and Ausonio Tavares, will be in the run for the Prix UIP, which coincides with a nomination for «Best Short Film» for the European Film Award.
Having taken home the Golden Leopard at the Locarno International Film Festival, and with its invitation for the Sarajevo festival competition, the feature film debut «Das Fraulein» by Andrea Staka is again in the limelight.

«Nouvel ordre», a short film without dialogue, is continuing its successful festival tour, which began in Cannes in May, where it screened in the «All the cinemas of the world» section.

The feature film competition in Sarajevo, with awards totaling 40,000 Euros, has become one of the most important meeting points of Eastern European cinema. Films in the competition section will be screened at the National theatre.
