Experimental short filmmaking in Rotterdam (January 24 – February 4, 2007)

06.02.2007

Known for its spirit of discovery, the International Film Festival Rotterdam presents three Swiss short films. The short film "Sympathy" by Dustin Rees (HGK Lucerne) has been nominated for the UIP Prize. In addition, the film "Downhill Skiing in Summer" by Daniel Zimmermann celebrates its international premiere: An art project, which traces the ideal track of this legendary downhill race made of 10,000 wooden slats in the summer, and lets the viewer travel the 2.5-minute ride at breakneck speed. Lastly, the short film "Turn" by Zurich artist Christina Benz will be screened. Her film will also be shown at Solothurn.

The short film program "As long as it takes", which was restructured last year, takes place in concentrated form during the first five days of the festival (January 25 - 29) and shows short films up to 60 minutes. Films shown in this program will be eligible for the Tiger Shorts Award and the UIP Prize.

In various other sections of the festival, long feature and documentary films will be presented.
