The 3rd International Independent Film Festival in Lisbon, IndieLisboa, taking place from April 20-30, 2006, will be showing five Swiss short films in various competitions: “Terra Incognita” by Peter Volkart (Reck Filmproduktion, Zurich) and “Wir sind dir true” (We are faithful to you) by Michael Koch are part of the international competition with a main prize sum of 3,000 Euros. The animated films “The Ark Job” by Titus Fehr and “Le génie de la boîte de raviolis” (The genie in the ravioli can) by Claude Barras (Production: Cinémagination, Freiburg), are participating in the international competition for children “IndieJunior”. The animated film “Banquise” by Claude Barras and Cédric Louis will be featured in the “Observatory” section and is a candidate for the audience award. Claude Barras will be in attendance for the showing of his two works.
The “IndieLisboa” festival, which is a newcomer in the European festival landscape, focuses on independent, international productions of various genres and lengths. For the main competition, only first or second time productions are eligible.

“Terra Incognita” which portrays the “fantastic” expedition of Igor Leschenko, has been shown at numerous festivals worldwide (for example New York, Rotterdam, and Sidney), and received several awards (Montreal, Biarritz, Neuchâtel, among others). The short documentary film “Wir sind dir treu” has also participated at several international festivals, among them Clermont-Ferrand, where it received the Canal+ prize. This film is about a zealous fan who leads the cheers for the Soccer Team of Basel.

The two-minute animated film “The Ark Job”, which was featured at festivals in Baden and Leipzig, is a humorous variation on the Noah’s Ark theme. “Le génie de la boîte de raviolis“ shows the encounter between the noodle assembly-line worker Armand and a canned Genie, based on a cartoon by Albertine and Germano Zullo. This film premiered at the Solothurn Film Festival and won the SSA/Suissimage audience award. It will be presented at additional international film festivals, among them Brussels, Hamburg, Zagreb, Brooklyn, and Melbourne. “Banquise” - about the dream of a shy and obese girl in the midst of summer heat – was invited to last year’s Brooklyn International Film Festival in New York and to the Cairo Children’s Film Festival in March of 2006.
