Four short films and a co-production at the Film festival in Angers

The co-production “Tulpan” by Sergei Dvortsevoy (co-production: Cobra Film, Zurich) will be presented in the First European Feature Films competition at the 21st “Premiers Plans” Festival in Angers (January 16-25, 2009). A total of nine films compete for the Grand Prize in this section, which amounts to 20,000 euros. Three Swiss short films will be screened in the other festival competitions: while “Racines” by Eileen Hofer will compete in the First European Short Films section, the two animation films “Signalis” by Adrian Flückiger and “Wimper” by Marcel Hobi will represent Switzerland in the European Animation Films (“Plans animés”) competition, in which 24 European works compete for the Grand Jury Prize.
The fourth Swiss short film, "Abnegation“ by Elias Amari, will be screened out of competition in the “Figures libres” section. Film directors Eileen Hofer and Adrian Flückiger have received support from SWISS FILMS to attend the festival in Angers, located in the Loire Valley. The French director Claire Denis will preside over the jury for the First European Feature Films; animation filmmaker Raoul Servais is the president of the jury for the First Animation Films.
