29.03.2006

At the Landshut Short Film Festival, which took place from March 23 - 26, 2006, in the town of Landshut, Bavaria, the short film “Herr Goldstein” by Micha Lewinsky (Production: Langfilm, Freienstein) won the award for “Best Short Film”, with a prize sum of 1,500 Euro. Six Swiss short films were invited to the 7th edition of the Landshut Short Film Festival which is dedicated to German-speaking film.
“Herr Goldstein” (Mr. Goldstein) was praised by the jury for its reserved and differentiated camerawork and a topic treated with diligence and love. The 17-minute work is the first feature film by screenplay writer Micha Lewinsky and is telling the story of 93-year-old Mr. Goldstein (Lukas Ammann), who receives a letter from his high school sweetheart at the elderly home (nurse played by Johanna Bantzer).

The film has already participated at ten international film festivals, among them Palm Springs (USA), Biarritz (France), and Siena (Italy). After celebrating its premiere at the Locarno International Film Festival, and winning the Golden Leopard, it was nominated for the Swiss Film Prize. In April, “Herr Goldstein” has been invited to the Dresden Film Fest (Germany) and the international competition at the Aspen Filmfest (USA). In Switzerland, the film will be shown as part of the 2006 Short Film Nights tour, starting in Zurich on March 31st.
