Jean-Luc Godard honoured with European Film Award

The French-Swiss cineaste Jean-Luc Godard received an honorary award at the 20th European Film Awards. The film director, who was one of the founders of the Nouvelle Vague, was presented the LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD by the European Film Academy in recognition of his impressive contribution to the world of film.
“As an active filmmaker and informed observer and critic of the art of film for more than 50 years, Jean-Luc Godard has shaped the way we look at European cinema,” wrote the European Film Academy.


The European Film Academy was founded in 1988 with the aim of promoting Europe’s film culture. It currently unites 1,800 European film professionals, with German film director Wim Wenders as its president.
