«Mein Name ist Eugen» wins Grand Prix in Montreal

At the Festival International du Film pour Enfants in Montreal, Canada, which took place from March 4-12, 2006, the Swiss scallywag comedy «Mein Name ist Eugen» (My name is Eugen) by Michael Steiner (Production: Kontraproduktion/C-Films, Zurich) won the grand prize. Ten children’s films were in competition, and 9 children and teens ages 9-17 were members of the jury.
«Mein Name ist Eugen» has been awarded the 2006 Swiss Film Prize, and it was shown in Montreal for the first time on the American continent. Since September 2005, the film has sold 555,136 tickets in Swiss German movie theatres. It will be released in the Western part of Switzerland on April 26, both with French subtitles and in a synchronized version (Distribution: Frenetic).
