20.10.2005

Ten documentary films, among them the Swiss production “Melodias” by François Bovy, have been nominated for the 2005 European Film Awards. The European Film Academy, presided over by Wim Wenders, will bestow prizes in 19 categories such as Best European Feature Film, Best Documentary Film, and best individual accomplishments of the year. The European Film Awards are in their 18th year and will be celebrated in Berlin on December 3.
“Melodias” – which received the “Télévision Suisse Romande” and the “Prix Regards sur le Crime” awards at the Nyon International Documentary Film Festival - tells three stories about life characterized by violence in the Colombian city of Medellin. In the film, songs by street musicians connect the overlapping fate of a taxi driver, a hired killer, and a policeman. Additional productions nominated in the “Documentary Film – Prix Arte” category originate in Germany, France, Italy, Austria, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Latvia, and Lithuania.
