«Melodias» wins two prices in Pamplona (Spain)

At the Navarra Documentary Film Festival “Punto de Vista” in Pamplona, Spain, taking place February 17-25, 2006, the Swiss documentary film “Melodias” by François Bovy (Production: Les Films de la Dernière Heure, Lausanne) won the “Point of View” award for Best Film with a prize sum of 4,500 Euro. The film was also awarded for Best Director, with a prize sum of 3,500 Euro. “Melodias” tells three stories from violence-prone Medellin. Since its 2005 premiere in Nyon, the film has been shown at various European and American festivals and has won several awards. It is currently presented in movie theatres in western Switzerland and will be released in the German-speaking part of the country over the course of the year.
At the Punto de Vista Festival, which is entirely dedicated to documentary film, five awards with a total prize sum of 20,000 Euro are bestowed. With its two awards and a prize sum of 8,000 Euro, “Melodias” is the main winner of this event. The 70-minute documentary, which was shot on betacam, already won two awards at its premiere at the 2005 Nyon Festival Visions du Réel and has consequently been shown at the Hot Docs Festival in Toronto, São Paulo International Film Festival, Rencontres du Documentaire in Montréal, and at the Amsterdam Shadow Film Festival. It also screened at the Film and Video Festival “Filmmaker Doc” in Milan, where it won an award.
