The feature film debut “Mon frère se marie” (My brother is getting married) by Jean-Stéphane Bron (Box Productions, Lausanne) won two main prizes at the 21st Namur International Festival of French-Speaking Film’s award ceremony on October 6, 2006. The “Bayard d’Or” for Best Script was given to the Western Swiss director and to his co-author Karin Sudan, while the “Bayard d’Or” for Best Actor went to Cyrol Troley.
“Mon frère se marie” tells the endearing and comical story of an adoptive family living in the Western part of Switzerland, who struggles to reunite on the occasion of the visit of their adopted son Vinh’s biological mother from Vietnam. The recently discovered French actor Cyril Troley, who previously acted in films by Nicolas Klotz, Philippe Faucon, and Pascal Hattu, performs in the role of the son and brother of Vinh. “Mon frère se marie” has been shown in Western Swiss movie theatres since October 4, and it will be released in the German part of Switzerland on November 29 (Distribution: Filmcoopi, Zurich).
