„Of Men and War“ is nominated for the European Film Award 2014

The French-Swiss coproduction „Of Men and War“ by Laurent Bécue-Renard has been nominated for the European Film Award 2014 in the category European Documentary, as announced by the EFA (European Film Academy) on November 6, 2014.

The French-Swiss coproduction „Of Men and War“ by Laurent Bécue-Renard has been nominated for the European Film Award 2014 in the category European Documentary, as announced by the EFA (European Film Academy) on November 6, 2014. „Of Men and War“ is a coproduction by both Alice Film (Paris) and Louise Productions (Lausanne; producers Elisabeth Garbar & Heinz Dill), Camille Cottagnoud from the French speaking part of Switzerland is the director of photography.

This is the third consecutive documentary by Louise Productions to be nominated for the European Film Award. 2013, "L'Escale" by Kaveh Bakhtiari; in 2012, it was "Hiver Nomade" by Manuel von Stürler which received the European Film Award for Best Documentary. For "Hiver Nomade", Camille Cottagnoud was also behind the camera and was awarded the Swiss Film Award for Best Cinematography.  

Of Men and War“, a documentary film on the demons of war, a dozen of US veterans have to wrestle with, years after coming home, celebrated its world premiere at the Film Festival in Cannes and will be competing at the end of November at IDFA (International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam).

In charge of choosing the six nominated films for the European Film Award 2014 were a committee consisting of EFA Board Members Antonio Saura (producer, Spain), Ada Solomon (producer, Romania), Signe Byrge Sørensen (producer, Denmark), as well as documentary experts Claas Danielsen (Germany), Ally Derks (Netherlands) and Jacques Laurent (Belgium). The approximately 3'000 members of EFA (European Film Academy) will decide on the winner. The award will be presented for the 27th time on Saturday, December 13, 2014 in Riga.
