26.07.2004

With its most recently achieved record of 250,000 movie tickets sold, “Elisabeth Kübler-Ross –Facing Death” by Stefan Haupt has set a new record for Swiss documentary filmmaking. In Germany, where the film was released precisely a year ago and is still being shown in movie theatres, 140,000 viewers alone have seen the portrait of the Swiss expert on death and dying. The numbers for Switzerland are 70,000 tickets sold in the German speaking part, while 40,000 viewers have seen the film in Austria.
The German distribution company Salzgeber & Co. Medien GmbH will be celebrating the film’s year-long success in the city of Munich with Stefan Haupt in attendance. In the United States, it is being distributed by First Run/Ikarus - one of a few US companies interested in foreign films which distributes Swiss productions on a regular basis (“War Photographer”, “Venus boyz”, and “The Tube”, among others).
